Melissa & Tom (June 24, 2006)

I have been friends with Melissa for almost 18 years now–we grew up next door to each other! Melissa and Tom got actually got engaged a little before my husband and I did, but Tom was finishing up his PhD work in South Carolina and they wanted to wait until he was done for the wedding (congrats Tom–both on graduating and finding a job! I am so happy you guys will be in Boston!). So, three years later, the wedding finally happened! Yay!

Even though all it has been doing lately is raining, it held off on Saturday enough for me to get some great pictures of them outside. I met Melissa at the hair salon, then followed her back to her house while her maid of honor, Sara, did her makeup. Her dress, which she found (I think) over two years ago fit her perfectly. I am still working editing the images, but here are just a few of my favorites!

Meghan & Ilan (June 10, 2006)

Both Meghan and Ilan’s ceremony and reception took place at the Copley Plaza Hotel in Boston. Meghan and Ilan are from out of state, so their wedding day was the first day that I got to meet them, though we had been in touch via phone and email in the months prior. My husband, who is my second photographer when needed, came with me to this wedding, and he stayed with the gentlemen and I stayed with the ladies. The Oval Room, where the ceremony took place (and later was converted into the reception location), was so beautiful!

After the ceremony and family formal were over, Meghan and Ilan agreed to go outside with me for a few minutes into Copley Square (such great sports, considering it had rained earlier)–we got some great images!

They had a great band play at their reception (Kahootz: http://www.bostonsbestband.com/) and they started the evening with the Hora–I think every guest took part! One of my favorite images from the reception is this one of Meghan’s mom, Chris:

I also got a chance to work with a great videographer–Erin Sisk (www.customweddingfilms.com). I haven’t seen the video from the wedding yet, but she was so nice and really great to work with.A slideshow from Meghan and Ilan’s wedding can be found by visiting: www.laurabeals.com/photos/Meghan&Ilan.

Erin & Andy’s Engagement Pictures

Last night, after many weeks of Tuesday-night attempts to take pictures only to be foiled by the rain, I was able to take my good friends’ Erin and Andy’s engagement pictures. They are getting married in June of 2007 down at her parent’s farmhouse in PA. We just went to our alma mater (all of ours!), Tufts University, and went around campus. Unfortunately, the mosquitoes were out in full force, but they were good sports about it.

(Apparently, the myth at Tufts is that if you kiss under this gate, you will be married! I have been there for 6 years now and just learned that last night!)
